Are those on 8" wheels, I like that they're inside the fenders.

I started last year with the same goal of running a tall drag radial (295-65) under the rear end of my '74. The pictures below show my 29.5" street tires on the rear. As stated above, each car has its own clearance issues, but in order to fit these "meats" I made the following changes:

1. Offset trailing arms and rear coil-overs.
2. Cut and re-welded the outside face of the frame to "smooth" it.
3. Relocated the mounting point of the trailing arm approx. 1" to the rear so that the wheel is centered in the fender opening (and to eliminate rubbling due to the tall tire).

I bought a 76 for my wife, and I'm currently building that project for her, and the car came with that same tire size that you mention. I was surprised that they fit with no issues....but they do! I am going with a different set, however, since I don't like how "stuffed" the wheelhouse looks with that much tire in there.

Should not be a problem for you, and they will most certainly fit the stock rims.

Your 74 has a killer stance...
What is the rear wheel width and backspacing?

9.5" wide with 6" backspace. Lettering on the BFGs rubbed the frame a little bit when I first mounted them. Hope to post better pictures soon - waiting on new brake calipers to be installed in front and then I will clean it up and get it back on the road.

IMO, the 295/50-15's dont fill up the wheel well enough. Thats why I went with the 295/50-16's, which are a little taller but the same width..

That very well could be, I assumed they were the same.. The only modification I had to do was move the e-brake.

295 = the tire width. 295 millimeters = 11.6141732 inches.
50 = 50% of the width will be the height of the side wall or
147.5 millimeters = 5.80708661 inches.
Rim size is just that, Rim size.

I thought the 295 was the load range, not width. Sorry for the erroneous suggestion.
