I've got a '69 Corvette 350 but it's my Chevy Apache pick-up that's giving me problems. I haven't been able to find a good Apache forum, so I thought I'd try the Vette owners for advice. It's a 58, straight six 235, column change, but it's running far too rich. It has had two non-original Rochesters fitted but it won't start if I turn down the mixture. The plugs are always sooty and the consumption's far too high. If anyone can offer any advice or suggest another forum I'd be grateful.
I had a nova with the 2 carbs and I would say you have an intake manifold leak. Thats why it won't run when you try too lean it out.
Spray some WD40 around the gasket areas and try not to light yourself on fire. LOL
Thanks for info on Stovebolt forum which I have contacted - and thanks for pictures of Apache. It looks great, much better than the condition of mine. Useful photos to help with restoration.
Thanks for info on Chevy Trucks. Hopefully I'll get the carb problem sorted. They need to know referrer before I can join. Can you tell me your user name for this forum please? You can e-mail me directly if you like - barry.pringle@virgin.net
