Does anyone have an estimate what a 350 rebuild should cost for cam, intake, headers and carb? What I am looking to do is wake the motor up and give it a little more sound and performance. So I am looking for suggestions as to what may give me the most bang for my buck. I am not looking to do the work myself. I currently have a shop working on an estimate and was looking for input before it comes back.
Any information, suggestions or mistakes not to make would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Davis

Reason: Took Brian's advce that it was too vague.
Good morning,
You'll have to provide more informaton on what you're looking for. Without it you'll get answers like this...
Somewhere between 3,000 and 30,000 dollars.
I'm not trying to be an AZZ though that happens to me naturally. Its just that there is an incredible variety of stuff out there. Its also dependant on labor where you live, if you'll be doing the work yourself, etc...
Doing that right now... im in 2500.00.. New cam, heads, rockers, gaskets, intake, water pump, distro, and a whole lot of other sensors and stuff.. When you take her apart you are going to find things here and there that NEED to be replaced. Brian is right... if you do it yourself you can save a TON of money.

That about says it all. There is an incredible number of variables such as whether the block needs bored or not (most likely yes), design and brand of pistons, type and material of rings (steel, moly, chrome), gaskets, etc, etc. The shop will most likely allow for some possible unforseen machine work on the heads as well as covering themselves for planned and unplanned labor on the block.
They are going to mount the pistons onto the rods? Are they going to check/polish the crank? I wouldn't begin to try to answer your question about costs unless you are able to do the disasembly/assembly yourself and even then there are still all the variables on parts. Please let us know what the estimate is.

If you estimate is over $2000 and your motor is not numbers matching you may want to look at GM crates. ALl new parts and a good warranty.
There are a LOT of crate motors out there...from short blocks to complete motors ready to drop in. It just depends on what you are looking to get out of it. If you want an inexpensive stock replacement engine, you can get one from Summit for under $2500. You could literally spend your children's college tuition on a motor....if that's what you want.
***** to the wall, best of everything, biggest, baddest and a top builder with a multi-decade rep, dyno tuned for hours and "real"......$15-20K +.......all you do is write the cheque.
Or $2,500 if you turn wrenches yourself, know your stuff, stay under 5,500 RPM and don't need internal machine work. The crate motor suggestion is the best for what you are saying because GM or whoever, stands behind it (hopefully).

I did my 406 for just over $1000.
Summit rebuild kit w/ 9.8 to pistons=$410
Summit cam and lifters =$180
Heads and Block Bored, crank polished, cyl honed, decked and valves and seats cut $700
Me as the assembler= Free
A shop is going to eat your lunch on this job. If you have an a/c car, the condensor has to come out to put the cam in-just for instance. I would figure out exactly what you want before you let them touch it. Maybe a local member would trade you labor for something. I don't know, but a shop will be expensive. Take a step back and do some research first. Define a budget and expectations and see if they intersect. Talk to people who have a similar combination and see if that is what you are after. Then go forward. My .02
your almost always going to hear..cyls need boring AND do need honing, next is "the crank needs a bit of turning". reguardless, you will need new cam bearing, freeze plugs, boil the block (all best done by machine shop),new oil pump, rings, pistons if its bored, rod and main bearings, timming chain (and/or gears), cam and lifters (do NOT use old lifters),gasket set,...you notice I havent even gotten to the top of the engine.
