Any tricks to remove throttle cable from pedal?

Any tricks to remove throttle cable from pedal?
It looks like the top of the throttle pedal lever hole does not have a relief cut into it for cable removal. Maybe I just didn't get a good enough view of it, but it sure looked like a full radius with no relief cut into it for the cable to slip out.
Are their any tribal knowledge tricks to getting the throttle cable off the top of the pedal?

there is a little plastic bushing in the top of the pedal linkage. push the bushing out and it has a slit in it. the cable slides out of the slit. with the bushing removed from the linkage the hole in the linkage is large enough to pass the end of the cable through.

When I first got my '69 some 5 years ago, I was going thru the gears and that little plastic bushing broke going into 2nd. Thought I blew the engine, until I looked down and saw the tach at idle. What a relief. Better to change it now.
