Default Timing adjustment made all the difference!

Hi Everyone,

Since I got my 77 vette before Christmas I noted it just wasn't as fast as I thought it should be and I could tell the timing was off because it always seems like it was trying to catch up with itself. I couldn't even do a burnout!

I did what most would not want to do next! Without a timing light I loosened the bolt on the distributor and turned it each direction and put it in the middle while running. Then I took it for a test drive.

All I can say is SPEED AND POWER!! It was like a new car! It had power before where I could catch an easy 2nd and possibly a 3rd at times but now... if I punch it while I'm already going, it throws me into the seat!

I still plan to have someone help fine tune the timing and carb next but at least this is better than it was!

Warren

Read the timing sticky at the top section of the C3 Tech.

Glad to see it worked though. You should really use a timing light to make sure you get everything tuned in right.
