C-3 Front Wheel and Tire Sizes
Well I guess I'm satisfied with the information I've gotten form everyone on the offset TA's and the rear wheel and tire widths I can run and be safe with, and thanks to all for that info.
But one more question on that subject before I quit. Has anyone run an 18" wheel and tire on the back and mixed it with 17" on the front? Would it clear the spring and swaybar better? Any Comments?
Now, let's talk about the front wheels and tires.
Can I run a 17 X 9 1/2" rim with a 4 3/4 Backspace and a 275-40-17 tire?
Does it rub? if so how much? does it just touch? or does it rub and make a nasty racket that is embarassing to say the least?
Would I be better off to run the standard 17 X 8" rim and a 255-40-17 with 4" BS ?

THANKS AGAIN, JIM
I run a 17x9.5 on the front (as well as the back) with 5" of backspace and one 3/8 spacer. It's only a 245 tire and it still rubs the sway bar a bit, but only on full tilt turns which I rarely ever have to make. A 275 tire has 30mm more of tread than my 245's but I am unsure if there is any real bulge to bulge difference between the two. With the 4 3/4 backspace you want and the 275 tires I feel you'll be in the same ballpark as me. Run it and don't worry about anything.

Re: C-3 Front Wheel and Tire Sizes (Stingy74)
Thanks for an answer Stingy 74, That's two confirmations I've had on that and no negatives. If anyone has a negative experiance speak up please!
I would still like to hear any comments on running the 18 " rear wheels and tires.
Has anyone tried it? Com'on don't be shy, whatd'ya think? 18" X 9 1/2" with 4 3/4" BS. And 285-40-18s? Of course with offset Trail Arms. Will it work? Will it give better clearence to the spring and swaybar?
I'm waiting for my 20" AR TT IIs to arrive. I've ordered 20x8 for front and 20x10 back. I'm going to run with 255/35/20 on front and 285/30/20 rear.
Merlin522 told me that his 19 inchers cleared the sway bar and leaf spring just and 18" might not fit with custom BS.
My rear wheels are with 5" BS and I'm using offset trailing arms.
I have the '92 vette wheels on mine, all around...2.5 inch wheel adaptor...
and I rub the front sway bar /frame in front a bit, so limit the radius with extra depth on the lower sway bar rubbing block, knuckle hit them....
still have the radius better than a C4....
the tires are 255/50/17 Nitto in front, and 275/50/17 Nitto in back...
If you want to go really big, 19" or larger wheel diameter, offset trailing arms & stock 3.5" backspacing with no spacers. That's what I'm using & I believe my car has the largest front & rear tires of any C-3 I've ever seen. There is no need to use anything but the stock backspacing. Gkull is using spacers on his with no offsets I believe & he has some huge meat on his car as well...
