Default Engine swap question

I am almost ready to replace the engine in my 82. I have considered a rebuild but I am looking for more performance than what the original motor can do without major mods. I was hoping someone else has done this swap using:

http://paceperformance.com/index.asp...&ProdID=131297

and could let me know if any issues that came up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Andy

Looks great.

Your stock 700R4 may suffer greatly behind that motor. Consider updateing that sooner or later.

You'll also need to get a torque converter lock up kit for your 700R4. B&M makes one that hooks inline to your speedo cable and lock the converter any higher than ~35MPH if my memory serves me correctly.

You'll also need to mod your fuel delivery set-up. The intank fuel pump will need a regulator that can turn down the fuel pressure to carb levels ~6-8PSI.

Youll probably want to update your exhaust, as your CFI motor factory shorty headers set-up will be too restrictive for the ZZ4. You could look for some block huggers and then have a local exhaust place mate up to your original 2.5 inch pipe set-up after that, or your could go long tube headers and true duals if your feelin' rich.

These are just off the top of the head.

Thanks for the reply. I thought the ECM would become useless and was wondering about the torque converter lock up. The fuel pressure is something I had not though of. I think new headers and duals will work well. No use getting cheap at this point.
