I'm going to swap a 5.3 LS truck motor in my 71 Vette ... I wanna keep the stock 4 speed manual trans, so not sure what conversion motor mounts I need. The regular ones or the 1" set back? I don't want to move the location of the stock 4 speed trans.
Get the 1" setback from speedhound and his z bar mount.
Do you have a 10 or 26 spline input shaft?

All the setback plates look to be pretty close. Speedhound also supplies a Z bar mount. With the mechanical clutch linkage there is a Z bar transfers the clutch pedal to the throwout bearing. It bolts to the frame and block. The 5.3 block doesn't have a mount for it. Speedhound sells a mount for this.
Other stuff you'll need:
621 BBC bell housing, keisler sells one with the extra Ls/LQ mount hole, adjustable stud, and correct vette arm.
LS7 pilot bearing
Longer throwout bearing
LS1 flywheel/clutch/pressure plate (if 26 spline input shaft)
Thanks for the help ... ordered the motor mounts, so the conversion will begin soon. Now I just need to find out how to modify the truck pulley system to work ... pics?
Picked an 06 5.3 LS motor and cleaned it up ... now just looking for an LS1 intake and oil pan. Can I swap an LS1 intake onto the 5.3 and still use the truck injectors, rails and throttle body?
Yes, the LS1 intake will fit fine. You'll need new LS1 intake gaskets and bolts.
You can use the truck TB on the LS1 intake.
See if you can get a LS1 intake with fuel rail and injectors. Then you'll just need the LS1 injector pigtails for wiring. The truck injectors/rail can be made to work, but not worth the effort.
For a pan, the f body ones are expensive, best deals are on the winged vette ones on ebay.
