speedometer cable length

speedometer cable length
bought a upper speedometer cable at Autozone. With it plugged into spedo, the other end goes all the way to the alternator. I will have to put a 360 degree loop in it to fit to the cruise control.
Will this work or do I need to shop for a shorter cable?

72" is the correct length- I ran the cable from the trans, slightly to the rear and then straight toward the left frame rail and gently curved it forward keeping it tucked on top of the frame. Then a wide turn into the firewall.
Oops- just saw you said UPPER cable- no idea on the real length, but it should be the correct length without any big bends.

Yes I have. I got a weatherstrip kit, rear struts, and a bunch of odds and ends. Walked into the store, paid the bill and they shipped it to the house so I didn't have to explain the weirdness to TSA at the airport.
