Re: odometer and speedometer trouble (John79vet)
If the car has cruise control, I am going to guess that it doesn`t work either. Sounds like your cruise transducer has bought the farm. Take the cables loose from the transducer and get on the speedo side. Connect a drill motor and have someone watch your speedo. If the speedo works you may have eliminated the problem.
It could also be the cable from the tranny to the transducer. Only way to tell is pull the cable and check both ends and make sure one hasn`t broken. You could also try the drill trick at the tranny end just leave the cable connected at the transducer. Hope this helps. Maybe someone else will have some more ideas.
The First place I'd look is to pull the speedo/tach housing and see if it is even plugged in. One plug in for the Electronics and the speedometer cable. While you have the housing out take a good look at the circuit board(the thin one with the solder runs) to check for breaks in the solder runs. Use a multimeter, it's not very hard. Small breaks will cause major problems but are easy to fix.
