Who here has gone from a stock QJ to an Edelbrock carb and intake. I need to see what you did for throttle cable and kick down brackets? nothing fits. Surprise..... Looks like grinding cutting and welding now?

I had to hacksaw off a small nub that Edelbrock did not leave enough room for the factory kickdown/cruise bracket. So i have that working, now just the throttle cable bracket.

This is getting ugly now.. The throttle cable is too long for the Edelbrock carb, there is no travel in the cable. Di you guys make an extension facing forward to stretch the cable out to be able to get WOT.

Spoke to Dave at Edelbrock. you will need a 1484 install kit to make the cruise work on a 1406 carb in a 1980 vette.

The cable is too long now for what i am using? not sure if i can get a shorter one, or how far i can bend this one to fit in the bracket.

I was able to use the original throttle assembly on my Edelbrock without any issues.

Many here have used a Lokar bracket and cable setup (Summit) that is VERY adjustable and works nicely. When I switched to a Holley, I had the same issues you mention and the Lokar setup worked out very nicely. I also updated my {69} 2 piece accelerator rod/lever setup to the later one piece rod - which also helped.

Search the forum - you should find plenty of posts with descriptions and part numbers.
