Default Angle plug header clearance

Hi, I am just about to order some AFR 195 heads for my 69. presently the car has stright plug heads and coated 1 5/8 SB headers. I do not know the brand of the headers, does anyone know if headers generally work with AFR angle plugs? I have a pic but can't post, and the car is about to be shipped, thus shipping the parts with the car.
Any help appreciated

Richie

Default Angle plug heads and header clearance

I have angle plug heads and Hedmon Elite 1-5/8" headers. They clear the plugs using short header plugs, and I ovaled the tubes in a few places near the plugs with a press and some wooden blocks for a cushion. Looks a lot better than beating the tubes with a hammer, actually looks like the headers were made that way and oval = no restriction on exhaust gases.

Yes horrible to have to hammer new coated headers, i did a search on summitt, looked through the sb headers, from the pics looks like the headers might be hedman headers, thanks for the info

If you can still find them, Dynomax 1 5/8" fit great. I have Hooker Super Comps (1 3/4") and they fit well with AFR 195's but you may have to "massage" the #6 plug area slightly.... other than that, you have more room with the angle plugs than the straight ones.
