I have to agree that 1/2 in Mod looks great. I will also go that rout as the 3/8 factory line will be on the edge of safty as I do not wish for my engine to go lean.
But if you have about 500 to tops of 550 HP a person should be fine with the factory 3/8 th's line as long as you remove the sock. But as said at the 550HP mark you are at the edge. And if you add anything like NO2 the 3/8 th's line will be too small.
