63Mako. I am going the SHP block. I think I will have to either sell the 75cc heads or have them milled, whichever comes out cheaper. I think I want around 10 to 1 compression. I understand about the 396. I was just adding that if someone was thinking about a 383, I think this would be a viable option....flat top pistons, extra stroke, cheap factory roller stuff with the tradeoff of buying a flywheel.
Yes the 396 is a great build.
The Mahle piston I referenced is this part number.
SBC250125F05 I think it will work with your combo but you will need to mill 12 thousands off the top of the pistons and go with a .061 gasket to get your compression right. Then you use your 75 cc heads as is and have a zero deck and a flat top piston. Check with Mahle on the pin to bottom of skirt measurement compared to a 3.850 stroke 5.850 rod piston skirt to pin measurement. If it is the same or less it is good to go.
