I ran Pertronix in my 70 for probably 8 years with no problem. There are many that will say not to do it and if you do keep your points with you just in case the Pertronix dies.

Pertronix
I switched out a Mallory Duel point system in my 74 to Pertronix and I could not believe the difference. I have much quicker starts and much better throttle response, and also had to slow the idle down because it gave me a much faster idle. I have had it for four or five years and never a bit of trouble.
