Friend of mine offered me a polished weiand blower today for $500..I don't know what model it is but said it was for a small block chevy. It is a dual carb manifold and needs a shaft that goes between two gears I think. I will see it tomorrow but I really don't know anything about them..Question is, should I go ahead and buy it? I happen to have the cash for once when a deal is out there...
If you have some pics of blowers post um..Thanks

Sounds like a reasonable deal. One thing to keep in mind is your compression ratio. I noticed your signature says 10:1, that's too high to be running a blower. Blowers like the initial compression ratio to be around 8.5:1 or lower. All in all I don't see any reason why you shouldn't get it (I know if I had the money I would). Sounds like it's a Weiand 8-71 street blower. Maybe you should talk to Norval about it...he is running one on his 460 big block.
Thanks bence13_33 for the reply..
I would not be using it on my vette motor for the reason you said and other bottom end componets weakness. It would make a great start for my next motor project though, enabling me to build the proper motor for it...
ddn, give me a break will ya!! Geee.. list it one of a kind :)
I will check it out tomorrow..What things should I look for to see if it heavy used in need of work?

Yeah I spent a couple of grand setting up this blower for a camero project. I was testing it in the vette in this pix. Ended up trading the blower and motor for a another car. Was Fun though!!
Well It sounds like a good price..But I would make sure it isn't worn out..Check the sealing edge of the rotor for scratches and gouges...Also bring a feeler gauge with you to check clearance(Rotor to end plate .018 to 0.20 max at rear,0008 to 0.10 at the front rotor to plate) and the clearance between the leading and trailing edge of rotors(Between rotors should be no more than .060 if more the blower is worn and not worth buying....A rebuild could set you back a few bucks(Rotors, Bearing, Case)......Also Make sure you get all the parts blower manifold, carb adapter, linkage ,tensioner , and pulleys.....Good luck
