Default Squeek squeek

When I first start driving I hear a squeek squeek that gets faster with speed or slower when I slow down. It lasts for maybe a mile or two and then its gone. If I let the car sit for awhile and drive it will come back. It does not do it under about 8 mph. Your thoughts u joint?

Well, you don't tell us if it's front or rear. My first thoughts would be rear hub bearings in the trailing arms...or the brakes are hitting the squeelers.

Poss. u-joint. Look for rusty dust around bearing cups. Not always evident but if you find the dust that bearing is bad. mds...

Thanks I beleive the squeek is in the rear, can't jack back of car up and run with the wheels hanging to hear it. I'll look closely at ujoints.

How long has it been since your rear wheel bearings were repacked?

I really should read the whole thread... BUT...

When I see any thread that starts with SQeaK, its all too familiar to me.

I've got it. It comes, it goes. Sometimes faster, its gone. Sometimes slower, its back. Some brake, is gone. Some acceleration, its there, or not.

BRAKES... The biggest PITA on these cars. Mine has had me to the brink of insanity on several occasions to the point you'd think I was a crack head who had not had a fix in some time.

I've replaced bearings, pads, pads again, calipers, rotors, you name it. Its in the same place, and it remains. Its left rear, most pronounced anyway. Its a kinda squeak, squeak, squeak sound when you are moving at low speeds. Slight brake pressure while still accelerating kills it.

Disconnected the emergency brake.

Only thing I have not done is pull the ebrake shoes. I have a feeling that might just do it. If not, I'm eventually replacing the entire braking system with something modern. That gremlin is taking its toll.

I swear its like that bum cart you get at the grocery store. You're already committed to it, but you wish you'd just go and get another one.

I hate that noise!

Guys, how is your rotor runout? With just a little runout the pads move in and out within the caliper and squeak big time. Ask me how I know. Even with all new brake parts you need to dial in the runout with shims behind the rotor. I made mine by cutting up a pop can. Rotors can be machined true but if your axle/mount is off a little you will have runout and squeaking. If you dont have a runout gauge, you can do a quick visual check by spining the rotor( by hand(no rim but bolted down) and watching the pads for movement. I have mine dialed in to less than .005, now brakes are smooth and ultra quiet.

I have the very same problem. If you get it fixed please repost with what was causing it. In the mean time I'm going try the "run out" thing. Good luck!
