A year or two ago, I had some A/C work done at a local shop that included replacing the A/C lines.
Last summer, it wasn't cooling, so I went to add some coolant from a can.
I could not get the hose connected to the fill port because it is right up against the support bracket and bolt for the compressor.
Did the shop put the wrong hose on? Or is something else screwy here?
Have you considered a longer belt? It looks like that might get the bolt out of the way. Would be a lot cheaper than replacing that hose with the correct one.
Not necessarily wrong, but they do have angled fittings that would allow access. I have the same problem you do. I have to remove the mount bolt to charge. Unfortunately, you can't change the fitting now, without removing the hose from the back of the compressor. I don't have a fitting on my accumulator, and not sure if I could access it anyway. That baby is hidden away pretty good.

I thought it has to be running to charge it. With the bolt out, you can't run it. I'm kinda liking the longer belt idea.
The belt needs to be very tight for normal operation. You could see if it could be tightened more or set loose to charge. To pull the bolt to charge you can put a spacer between the compressor & bracket visible in pic.
All you need is this type of fitting.
You need to evacuate the system to change it.
Since the shop should have really known better either order the correct fitting/and or take the car back to them and possibly work out an arrangement of some sort.

I just ordered the part. I hope the clearance is enough between the fitting that is there now and that adjustment bolt. If not, I think I'll still have to look into the longer belt.

You are correct, and I know it sounds strange, but once I connect my charge hose, I can reinstall the bolt, and then crank it up. Remove bolt again, and remove hose. Yes it is a pain, but if everything is working you don't have to service very often.
