On the inside edge of the firewall extension behind the brake servo, there is a hole through which a vacuum hose & 3 wires come out of. The hose has been plugged with an old bolt & the wires go to a connector that isn't plugged in to anything. Has anybody got any idea what this vacuum hose was for (1/4" bore) & where I can find the other end of it? I'm trying to tidy up the engine bay but, as summer is coming(?), I don't want to pull anymore apart than I already have, so any help would be gratefully received :)
TIA
Paul
UKPaul; in looking at an assembly manual, that may be the winshield washer servo plug for that washer motor. The vacuum lines don't show in the same reference area. I am guessing these may be the vacuum lines for the headlight switch and hold-open from the interior. If you don't have an assembly manual, these are invaluable, and copies can be had from Mid-America and other sources fairly cheep, and show GM part #'s. Electrical and vacuum are in different sections. It also could be the vacuum brake release for the cruise unit. hope this helps :smash:
81VETTOM,
:D Nice one! It's gotta be something to do with the cruise control (removed by a previous owner). Thanks. Now I've just got to find the other end of the pipe & disconnect it (the less pipes, the less chance of a leak).
