My '74 has a fuel pump with a return line. Is this common with all C-3's?
What is the purpose?
Has anybody plugged the return line and run a standard pump with (1) inlet and (1) outlet?
Would this be advisable?
Thanks,
You can buy replacement pumps for $15. I bought a '73 pump to eliminate that damn $60 fuel filter. I say keep the return line, it keeps your fuel cooler and helps prevent vapor lock.
Ken, the way I understand it is the return line allows eccess fuel that the engine doesn't require to be returned to the tank. This serves mutiple purposes, 1: It allows the fuel pump to continually flow fuel thus reducing internal wear.
2: It prevents the fuel from becomeing warm as it sits in the supply line helping reduce vapor lock.
I would keep the return line....
OK! I'm convinced. I'll keep the return line.
Thanks for your help, guys!!
In case anyone wonders why this came up.
I pulled my engine in Jan. and am now rebuilding the front end.
Shortly I'll be ordering a ZZ4 as a replacement.
That's why the question came up.
