The Edelbrock Performer RPM is a nice intake that should restore your low and mid-range torque.

Default Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap

I think this is the proper name for it... Anyway, Hot Rod magazine seems to love these for any motor when they do comparo dyno tests... So, I would consider it strongly, especially as your Torker experience tracks perfectly with what that magazine reports as well...of course, Edelbrock says these won't fit under our stock hoods... Not an issue for you if you are going with a different hood, otherwise... I went with a 1968 aluminum 427/390 intake on mine as the best choice for me and my 454 when keeping the stock hood.

Don't quote me on this, but I've heard guys here claim that it just barely clears a '76 hood if you use a drop base air cleaner.

check out post 9 for example

The RPM fits.
The med. rise hood 76-79 hood allows RPMs, Victor Jr. & others w/ Holley, about 1"+ drop base & about 3" filter.

For your cam I feel the edlebrock RPM will do very well. As for the Cam the 480 only tells us lift not duration. But if it is an old cam with 480 lift then it sounds like an old Cam Dynamics or General Kenitics cam which was a 480 lift 288 duration as advertised. Good ole cam to be honest.

I am running the Weiand Air Strike and have tons of low end torque. Any good dual plane intake will help on low end

I would second this. I've done a lot of reading up on intakes & the Air Gap seems to be the best bang for your buck you can get, although just slightly better than the Performer. You can find either on ebaY for a very reasonable price.

been looking at some of the crate engines and from what ive seen it seems like under 400 hp there using the regular edlebrock rpm and over 400 hp there using the air one .i have no idea what mine is or is capable of in hp .but i do have the 3000 stall converter and 373 gear they say to use .
