I'm about half way through swapping my current radiator for a Dewitts Aluminium one. What a process!!!
I've removed the smog pump, the a/c pump(or compressor or whatever it is, my a/c doesn't even work?!), the radiator brackets, an air dam that sits under the hood solenoid, and I STILL CAN'T GET THE F#@%^G SHROUD OUT!.. I did however manage to get the belt driven fan out by moving the fan shroud around, and then discovered an electric motor driven fan.
It's a 1982, so I don't know if this is the original radiator. Did the '82 come with the extra fan or does this sound like an upgrade?
Make sure everything is disconnected from the radiator; hoses, transmission cooler lines, etc. Get someone to help you lift the radiator out from between the fan shroud and the radiator support. You can then remove the fan shroud by sliding it forward to clear the a-arms. Check the radiator support for rust while you have the radiator out as it has a tendency to rust. Light rust can be cleaned, strayed with a rust inhibitor, and painted.
