Default Jack Stand Question

I have two sets of jackstands that are very similar in the way the support the frame. There are two raised lips at the contact point - and only one of them is making contact.

Is this typical? It seems to be a very small area for the weight distribution of the vehicle.

The ones I had many years ago are like you described. I lost them somewhere along the way in one of my moves - and these are all I was able to find locally.

I just went through Amazon (to look at some pics) and the ones they sell are all similar to the ones I have.

I dont mind (well, actually I do, but that is beside the point) buying another set, because I am not comfortable with what i have. Any recommendations on where to buy?

You can put a couple of pieces of thick carpet on those and they will work just fine and not dent anything nor slip.
Always test.
They were originally meant more for putting under rear axles etc.

I would be more worried about the size and strength of the base. Bigger is better.

Ahh..... that makes sense. These are rated for 3 tons each, so i should be good on that. I'll keep looking for the ones with the 'flat' top.
