Default How much For chambered exhaust?

Hey Guys Im up north here in canada, And I was just wondering how much it would be to install chambered pipes on my '76 vette. I have headers, true dual catless exhaust and 2.5" pipes thanx. I was also wondering where I could find the parts for this installation, thanx.

Would these pipes fit onto headers?

Don't count on mail order exhaust fitting headers, I still had to pay another $150 to fab the cross over and connect headers.

They had a website but it has been down for a long time now. I have the phone number at home, but I'm working now. I can email it to you tomorrow if you want, or post it here

I got mine from Mid America(MAD) for $299. I love 'em. I'm not using headers, but it's my understanding that they send you enough pipe to mate to just about any header. You'll still need to make a trip to the exhaust shop to weld them up. I got the pipes which bolt directly to the stock ram horn exhaust manifold.

All,
Last week I asked you how to reduce the annoying resonance on my chambered exhaust, and several of you suggested I add a crossover pipe.

On my car, I had room behind the frame crossmember, just behind the tranny, and added a 2" crossover (to my 2 1/2 " system). I also had them add a flange in the middle, in case I ever needed to remove/loosen just one side of the exhaust.

Today I drove it through all RPM ranges :D and can say the crossover works well! (not perfect, but makes a noticable difference) While I still have that terrific loud sound and deep notes, I have greatly reduced the annoying resonance and vibration in the 1200-1500 RPM range.

Cost $60 parts and labor.

Important performance note: If you have this job done, my tech says it needs to be done in four steps: Step 1: they cut holes in my existing exhaust and welded in the 2" cross piece with the flange. Step 2: they then cut my exhaust pipes in half about an inch behind the new cross piece and used a fine cutting torch to remove the protusion (the 2" cross piece was cut square and protruding into the 2 1/2" exhaust pipe nearly an inch) This ensures a smooth exhaust flow. Step 3 is weld the exhaust back together, and step 4 is to apply high temp aluminized paint to the welded areas to prevent rust.

I also was looking at replacing my stock exhaust setup. MAD does not have a setup for a '69BB in their catalog, but then again I have not called them either. Eckler's has a setup for my car. With the complete kit and my stock exhaust manifolds, do I still need to weld the pipes? I was under the impression there were several sections and they fit together and you use a clap to secure them. I was thinking of tackeling this project myself, but with the sounds of creating cross pipes, I am not sure if this project is for me since I have no welding experience....

---Andy
