Default New hinges

While i have the dash completely out all around and kickplates, i might as well do the hinges before I put it back together. I was going to just do the pins and bushings but after looking at them I think I will just get all new hinges all around.

Any tips? Remove the door first? (from the door side of the hinge)

Mark bolts on the door, pull hinges from the car side, put it all back....anything else I should know?

By the way this might be a dumb question but why can't I find a " RH " hinge anywhere? They are all " LH ". Just the drivers side??

im not one hundred percent sure, but ive heard it can be done without removing the hinges. ill be doing mine in the next few weeks. ill pop a pin out and see if theres wiggle room to get the bushings out. plus ill put some painters tape on the edges of the doors before i start. i cant wait to see if it can be done, tom

I removed the door by removing the bolts at the hinge. I slipped the door away and then serviced the hinge. Leave the hinge on the hinge pillar. I have seen guys remove the whole hinge to service and get 'real' lost in trying to find the exact marks.

The spring can slipped side ways and then driven out with a hammer, go gentle and be accurate.

Once the spring is out you can service the pin and bushings. Reinstall spring. Lubricate contact points with white Lubriplate grease.

Good luck.

Dano,
Good time to get in there and paint all that before you go back together if your planning a paint job in the future.

I started off with Korevette's technique and it would have worked as the door side normally needs to be readjusted anyway to get the body lines back inline. Ended up pulling everything and primering and painting, had some rust showing up on the hinge spacers so pulled them all the way and put new pins in, reinstalled, painted the inner surfaces and reinstalled the door. I have heard where some people drill two small holes in the hinge before they remove it and use nails in those holes to help get the hinge back in its original alignment but I havent used it yet. 12 pack and some patience and everything is lined up better than factory now!

might take a 12 pack per side in some cases.........
