Correct, GM had a big recall in the 70's to add this charcoal filter. Intake manifold gas fumes got into the booster and destroyed it. It should be mounted vertically to work correctly.
yeah, I figured it was meant to keep carbon and other harmful fumes from building up in the booster and causing issues with the power brakes.
Thanks for the cheaper solution! I had checked my local parts place and they didnt have it, but Ill check my local autozone and see if they have it in stock.
