Default Hood problem fixed

I have been trying to open the hood on my '75 vette for 5 weeks. I was about to give up and take it to the shop and spend the money to have someone else open the hood. I fixed myself a stiff drink went in the basement and stared at the car. I knew the latches were releasing and I had tried every trick everyone had been kind enough to send me. So what was the problem?

It had to be the alignemnt was off - duhhhh!!! I took some wooden wedges that goes in an axe handle, the big ones, and split the into three pieces each. I evenly placed the wooden wedges around the hood and started measuring gaps. I tapped the wedges down until the gap was perfect all of the way around the hood. The tighter gaps had to be tapped a a little harder. The hood still would not open so I started thinking again - WHY??? I then assumed the only reason it would not open was because the hood was too far forward because I did not have a gap to measure front to back. I then tapped the wedges in the front a little more and IT POPPED OPEN!!!!!!!

I hope this will help someone else inthe future. Thank you everyone who was kind enough to send me your suggestions. It is good to know a forum like this exist where people are willing to help each other.
