C4 guy looking for some electrical help
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...g-harness.html
Long story short, I have a new (rebuilt) 85 designated alternator with a different connection than what the connection on the 86 harness will mate up to. I was wondering about the feasibility of splicing in a pig tail of an 85 and earlier connection onto the harness.
I picked one up from the auto parts store, however the red wire on the pigtail is a gauge smaller it appears than the red wire on the 86 wiring harness alternator connection. I was wondering how much of a problem that would cause splicing in a pig tail with thinner wire that connects to thicker wire (not thicker by much). As stated in my original thread, I'd hate to eat $160 just for a 15 cent plastic connection that doesn't match.
I know my '87 was CS, me memory is a bit hazy....
but for the RED wire above, you are fine, no sweat.....
IF it involves a regulator/style change....you need further advice...
