Brake Lights in 77
I almost feel stupid for asking this, but what direction do the bulbs in a 77 need to be turned when you change them? I tried turning them both ways and there was either a blockage or nowhere for them to go. I tried pushing down on the bulb pretty firmly and trying to turn but again it wouldn't go. I highly doubt they just slide in. The loose connection is causing the turn signal to not work (I tried putting on the turn signal, and simply pushing down and the bulb, then it worked).

I do have the correct bulb, the socket appears to be in good condition, I'll go outside later today and take a hard look down there to see if I can figure something out, thanks for the info though. I figured they followed the righty-tighty lefty-loosey rule.

Yup you were correct, I looked down the socket and say the little dip and groove, got it in OK. Last time I try to change bulbs in the dark after work... lunch break minor jobs ftw!
