newbie help with power
newbie here. Yesterday my daughter bought a 72. It idled great. She test drove it around the block and it ran great. The problem we discovered after the fact is that it takes off great and all, but if you punch it at 40-45, nothing happens. no passing gear, no 4 barrell kicking in. nothing.
I know some basics but overall mechanically challenged. What would be the likely suspect of her problem.
Any suggestions of what to check would be appreciated. Just hoping she didn't get taken and looking at major expense to fix.

u dont say witc motor tranny combo is in car but chances are the kickdown/secondary linkage is not hooked up or functioning properly. look on your thottle linkage and see if that is the case if i remember correctly those were vacume secoundarys look to be sure thats all hooked up(vacume hoses cracked or missing,the small linkage rods are in place or are missing) thats where id start, if that dont help reply back

it's a 350 automatic. I doubt if it is all original. It has an edlebrock intake & newer looking carb. I have a 78 Taylor jet boat with 455 olds, and this vette has a little bit of a lope to it like it may have a bigger cam.
