Default Dies at idle

I drove my '79 L-48 all over last Sunday and had no issues but while driving it today when I came to a stop I had to keep my foot on the gas to keep it running. I didn't touch the car all week. What could be causing this all of a sudden?

A number of things could cause it. Check for a vacuum leak first. Maybe one of the vacuum hoses are split or popped off. If you have power brakes, the booster may be going bad (or the booster check valve) and leaking vacuum. If your car has an automatic trans, don't forget to check the vacuum line at the vacuum modulator too.

Yeah...a brake booster leak is one possibility. But, there are many others. For example, an idle stop solenoid going bad...or idle stop screw getting loose due to a broken (or yeah...even missing) spring...leak in a carb gasket and/or worn fuel inlet valve causing fuel level to get high enough to cause splashing into the intake...worn accelerator pump causing fuel to leak into the intake causing a very rich idle. Even a loose distributor which has rotated just enough to cause the idle to be too low. Essentially, do a tune up and inspection.
