Default 85 with LT1, was this converted?

I just got a 85 c4 that had a LT1 in it. From what i understand the LT1 did not come until later. The car i am putting a LQ9 in currently. And i need to know what to do about mounts. Something was mention from the seller about a 93 body conversion? Did they change something out to put that LT1 in there? What do i look for to check this?

Thanks in advanced.

Go over the LS1tech.com and peruse the Conversions and Hybrids section. There are at least 2 threads on C4 conversion to LSx motors with some detail on how to setup the motor mounts.

Best of luck to ya.......

'85 had a iron headed L98, the LT1 did not appear in the C4 until 1992.

So what would have been done to my c4 to allow the LT1 to be installed. Because all the LT1 stuff is in the factory location. And the vin shows up as an 85, as well as the title. Is the subframe the same regardless?

If you had a 92-96 donor car, you could switch nearly everything driveline related over to an '85, and I would imagine that it would be nearly seamless.

The LT1's (and more especially the LT4's) were strong engines. I have read that the LT4's used later in the C4 run (maybe only in the Grand Sports in '96) were derated in horsepower so as not to outshine the all new LS1 that debuted in 1997.
