Temp Guage ?
After instaling new motor temp guage does not work and did with old motor. I had to change the location of the sender to the intake manifold and lenthed the wire to the sender. The new engine has vortec heads. JAY

That is the gauge doing when you turn the key on? This can usually tell you what the problem is with the gauge.
Is the needle moving when you turn the key on and if so... where is it pointing.

Teflon tape is often confused as a sealant when in fact the purpose is to be used as a lubricant to assist in the seating of the pipe threads. Some will tell you not to use this, but if you do only put the tape on the first three threads and install the sending unit.
But tell me.. what is the gauge doing when you turn the key on.. I'll only be on a few more minutes but I can tell you if the gauge is missing input signal by what the needle is doing!
If the dash unit is missing a ground it will peg to the right, if the dash unit has a grounded input signal it will peg to the right just below the rivet, and if it is missing input signal it will go to the left.
