Previous thread yesterday asked about if a bad rear bearing could cause vibration. I was doing my rear calipers last night and again was checking tire movement with it jacked up. I have top to bottom movement on drivers side rear of easliy 1/8 or more.
The problem is how do you know if it's from excessive yoke end play or bad bearings? Is there a better test that can be done? (Is Gary still around?)
Also this one particular wheel still has the rivets on the hub, never drilled out. The other side, no rivets. Would this mean the spindle has never been out to replace bearings and these could be the originals? THX
If you grab the wheel at 6 and 12 and push in at the top and out at the bottom, you will first feel the bearing play if there is any. If you really put your shoulder into pushing in on the top you will feel the yoke end play. Just my experience.
