Default Rochester Accelerator Hook Up.

Looking at the throttle plate where the cable attaches too, there are 3 holes. Two have a raised flange protuding to the outside of the carb and the 3rd has no flange. Can anyone explain the reason for these differences and which hole the cable should be attached too?

Stock 1969 L46

Just rebuilt the carb w/friends and after installing it, have a problem getting full throttle.

Thanks for any help.

Lars commented on this a couple of weeks ago (I hope my memory serves me well). The top hole is for trucks and passenger cars. The middle hole is for Corvettes (as shown). The lower hole (shown with stud) is for the kickdown cable for cars with an automatic transmission. That fourth hole at bottom (with grommet) is of course for the accelerator return springs.

For reference this is a #7044206 carb: 1974 L-48 with automatic transmission. Yours may differ somewhat but I believe the same principles apply. The lower stud is not used (I will remove it) as the TH400 in 1974 is controlled via an electrical switch at the gas pedal.

Thanks for the reply. My setup is a little bit different than yours but at least now I know the purpose of the holes. I usually read anything about carbs that is posted. Must have missed Lar's comments. You couldn't direct me to his post on that issue by any chance?

Thanks

My main question was answered. The throttle cable connects to the lowest hole on the plate allowing for full cable travell. Read Lar's post and saw pictures on other posts.

Thanks

If yours was at the top hole, let us know if changing to the lower makes a difference.

Paul, Made a major contributing factor. Still shy but read on the same thread about accelertor play. Stuck my head under the dash and found free play between the pedal and attached linkage. Held pedal toward me and tightened the bracket that supports the half moon shaft from the accelerator pedal. I now have complete WOT. Took her for a brief drive today and with total timing set to Lar's document, she is one peppy happy lady. I couldn't go over 50 due to traffic but the sound of the secondaries kicking in sucked the air out of me. Got one last issue with the carb but rather start a new post.

Again, thanks for the link.

I had problems getting WOT and finally figured out that my cable was attached to the top hole. Switching to the lower, more forward hole gave me full travel and the secondaries opened up completely. Big difference, obviously.
