Used the search funtion & read previous threads. ? the directions show the solenoid install after the proporationing block. I see some of you have installed after the master cylinder, before the proporationing valve. Does it matter? Is there a preference?

I put mine before the valve. How are you going to run it after the valve when there are two lines coming out of the Prop. valve. Run it anywhere from the master cylinder down to the prop. vave.

Your line lock should have come with intructions for the various installation scenarios. For your '73 you would want to install the solenoid AFTER the combination valve (directs fluid and has the brake warning valve. There is no proportioning in a '73). You leave the line running from the master going to the valve. Remove both front brake lines leaving the valve. You plug one of the ports in the valve leading to one front brake line. The other outlet you plumb a line running to the line lock as the pressure inlet. You now feed a line from the line lock down to a T-fitting and you reroute the front brake lines out of the T-fitting. The way it works now is the fluid will correctly pressurize both sides of the warning switch, feed fluid to the line lock and to the front brake lines. When you engage the line lock, pressure is held only from the outlet to the front brakes. As far as the warning switch is concerned, pressure is balanced on both sides of the valve.

If you run the lock after the master and before the combo valve, then whenever you use the line lock, you will also illuminate the pressure warning since the valve will go off center since there will be pressure on one side of the valve. While this will function just fine, you will have the brake warning light to bug you.

Gerry, I don't like to disagree with anyone but I have seen many a line lock installed and never seen one after the prop valve. I have mine before the prop valve and never does my light come on. You only have it activated for maybe 10 seconds so it is not really a big deal. My instructions said nothing about going after the prop valve. It makes the plumbing a lot more difficult to do it after the valve also. The prop. valve on a Corvette is pretty useless anyway, you could run it very well and I have seen many run without it.

If your pressure warning light isn't coming on, your valve is stuck, the circuit is inactive, or the light is burned out.

I just used it to replace the front "T" fitting. This is probably the easiest way to do it.

this would also eliminate the need to run an activation light

you already have one "factory" installed
