I have started my conversion and have a couple questions.
For the safety switch on the clutch pedal, where do these wires feed from and what colors are they ?
The old cable that is fastened to the lever at the end of the column, can this just be left alone after auto tranny is gone or what should I do here ? I believe if this lever is not in the correct position the key will not come out of ignition switch.
I am sure I will have a few more questions Thanks much for the help
There are two heavy purple wires that were hooked to the auto switch on the shifter that were for nuetral safety switch. These are thesame circuit.
The cable for the steering column you can either leave in the up position or there is a factory cable that goes to the transmission that in reverse allows for key removal.
I have some parts for your conversion if interested.
I have a pedal assembly, z-bar, bell housing and clutch fork. I purchased these items to convert my 1969 but never did and just sold the car a month ago. The items are in storage and it may take a day or two to get some pics to you.

...when I converted my '75 to a 4spd car 5yrs ago, I never did a "clutch safety switch". First year for that was '69. '68s did not have them. I simply soldered the two purple wires at the automatic trans safety neutral switch plug when I removed it. I just made damn sure when I cranked my '75, I put the shifter in neutral and/or put the clutch in.
...don't remember what year you're working with, but my Turbo 400 trans yoke fit perfectly into a BorgWarner Super T-10. Used same driveshaft too.
I've done several of these in my shop. I think the hardest part for someone my age is removing the steering column and instrument cluster to access the pedal assembly.
Mock up the bell crank before you weld the frame bracket on. Sucks having to do it twice.
The nice part is the crossmember unbolts on the auto cars.
I'm sure you'll be happy with the results
Appreciating all the help I am getting on this. We did get the Z-Bar bracket welded in tonight, My buddy Cam brought over a portable welder and that part is finished. Reassembly will start Wednesday.
I have found out one thing with this little venture ( there are more than 26 letters in the alphabet ) some of the words out of my mouth should be sensored. 64 years old and your *** is upside down wondering if you will get the job done or die in the process. Needless to say, can't wait to drop the hammer on this 383 and let the sheet happen with a 4 yanker.
I have gone through ever box in storage and I must have missed it or it grew legs and walked. I know I have the parts but can not find them at this time. I will continue to search.
