Default Window Auto Down Mod.

Has anyone ever attempted to incorporate the auto down mod on the C3? Getting the module from a scrap yard wouldn't be hard but what year, model car would be best suited as the donor and how would you wire it up?

Are you inquiring about the power window auto down function on many newer vehicles?

If so it may not be as easy as it seems. The window auto down function is usually incorporated into a module that also controls other functions like heated seats, seat movement, mirror control etc. If all of the functions of the module are not used it will set Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) which may cause the module to envoke a strategy rendering all functions mute. The other item to keep in mind is that most of today's vehicles have muliple modules that are connected together via a network and when one module senses that another module is not present DTCs can also be set indicating a problem.

You may be better served by building your own system from components you can purchase from many of the online electronics supply houses like Digi-Key.

With a little research you could probably design a simple driver module that would use the present window switch and control the window motor in the manner you desire.

Yes I am, I incorporated one on the passenger side of my daily driver by incorporating the drivers side module and it didn't trip any codes. If all else fails I may get another one from the yard and try to use the same module.

Ok, I hear ya Wayne, I'm in the process of reinstalling the interior and thought I would add this feature while apart. You know how that goes, don't ya! Oh and if I can remember that far back I thought it was 1.9 seconds.

That's what I love about living in this era. If you can think it up, punch it into your PC most likely someone has made it already, long way from testing TV tubes at your local smoke shop

I was at the yard last weekend getting a part for my daily driver and decided to pull an auto down switch from a parts car. I think I'm going to tear it apart and see if there is a board or relay of sorts that I can use. It won't be in the near future since there is just too much yard work to do within the next couple weeks. Somehow that seems to take priority.

Wish me luck.
