Default Oil Pump Help!

Well I'm installing my oil pump and pan tonight. I have the oil pump primed and the pickup on it. My question is this:

I have a Moroso oil pump shaft with a pinned steel sleeve. Whenever I put it on the oil pump it can easily be taken on and off. Is this thing supposed to snap into place or what? How is it held into place (is it held into place).

I really need help on this because I'd like to finish this up tonight. Thanks a bunch guys!

The distributor holds it down from the top. There will be some movement verticaly between the distributor and oil pump , but not enough for the sleeve to come out. Hope that helps.

Yep, that's the way it's supposed to work. Some factory shafts had a plastic sleave that kind of had a snap fit :smash:

Mine is the same way. Steel shaft, steel sleeve. No snap. I thought the same thing until I got the answer from several people that this way is ok.

yep the boys are right again held down by distributor. Remember no permatex between pump and main cap. this is a machine fit. Buddy of mine didnt know that and thought it might be a good idea to use some till his high volume high pressure pump sucked it all in  :smash: :seeya :flag
