The hood latch release cable on my '75 Vette has broken. How do you get the hood unlatched without the aid of the latch release cable? Would really appreciate the help/advise.

I just went through this one also. My cable broke pulling on the lever, since then i replaced every cable I could find just to be sure (theres two on the 75). I was lucky because my hood was only closed on the right side so I could lift it enough the pull the cross over cable with some pliers. Your gonna have to fish with a screw driver unfortunatley.
there is a gromment on both sides under the back of the hood. pop them out use a small straight edge screwdriver small meaning 2 inch stubby and pop the latches with that. oh....and a flashlight. you will be able to do it in a couple trys.

Ah yes, brings back memories when I had my 73 just one day, learned real fast about those grommets/holes.....
Their is a little ball on the end of the cable that breaks off. If you want to fix the cable without replacing the cable, her are few photos(it's the little gold connecter to the right of the red wire) and links to a cable clamp that can be purchased at a local hobby store that sells Radio control Airplanes parts. You could order over Internet but the shipping is 5 times their cost only a couple if dollars each.
I ground off the little post on my as I did not like its look, I held it in place with long needle nose and used red locktite on the screw.....it has held now for 6 years.
Hope this helps a little. You will not use the little lock wasers on the post
