77 had an aftermarket a/c problem with an electic motor that I needed to replace. Unfortunatley the evaporator was behind the dash & I had to remove it in order to get to the motor. I fixed that but what a PIA. the evap unit is such a tight fit that I needed to push it all in as hard as I could in order to get the dash back in place.. Now after putting it all back the guages arn't working except the clock, the dash lights are out. the gauges peg out in the other direction and/or don't move at all & the GEN light is very bright. Now I discover the the pwr windows are in the stuck down position. WTHell?? I also noticed that a light bulb with a small circuit board for the guage panal fell off, I believe it plugs into the rear top drivers side guage cluster. Oh the radio is playing static now. I either shorted out something or broke the circuit panal on the guage cluster. What the heck can be going on here? I need help.
UPDATE:
I found the problem. I grounded a loose pwr wire and blew the fuse in "guages" replaced fuse and all works again. Working late at night on these cars in the heat can blur the senses. My only problem is that the electric fan motor burnt out again in the evap unit. I pushed it in perhaps to hard to squeeze it behind the dash that it deformed the plastic case as to restrict the birdcage from spinning freely. It made a lot of scraping noise and than stopped, than I smelled that burning odor. Back to square one. I need a new evap.:*****: and the company I bought it from ,Hot rod air is out of business!
