I have a 1968, 327 / 300 which I rebuilt two years ago and ended up with about 350 HP.
I currently have a Edelbrock single plane intake (5001) and someone told me I would gain low end if I switch to a dual plane intake. I don't race and never have pushed the RPM above 5700 so the HP gained at top end is not used.
If I switch to dual plane how much HP or torque gain would I see?
My setup is
327 .060 over
10.5:1 compression
Crane Z274 cam (274/280 duration and 473/486 lift)
World Products heads (2.02 - 1.60)
Shortie headders w/2.5 dual exhaust
I will not be changing the stock hood so the choice of intake is limited.
Little to none. At least not enough to make it worth your while to change. The Torker II is not in the same league as say a Victor Jr when you think of single plenum intakes. The T2 has good low-rpm torque characteristics due to its small plenum and runners.
Sounds like an Edelbrock Air Gap RPM would be a good fit, gives you up to 6500 rpms, you might have to switch to the LT1 style low rise air cleaner to make it fit with a little clearance, when checking for clearance use some tin foil or play dough so you don't damage anything...
