Default Steering Column Repair

I have my TT column apart on my 74 and the upper bearing support has a tilt pin hole badly worn. Is it possible to repair this or do I have to by a new one? I have been looking, but it doesn't look like they reproduce this part.

This company advertizes the support. (It is the only one that I have found.)

I dont have a TT column and never rebuilt one so I have no idea how that bearing support is orientated or utilized.

But when I saw the picture it kinda reminded me of the door hinge pin bushings.

This site has lots of hardware and sleeve type bushings. Maybe you can drill it to the next size or find one that would slip in? Just not sure how it would be retained though. Just a thought.

I recently repaired my Bearing Housing Support as suggested by mysixtynine. My problem was not with the pivot pins but with the tilt shoe engagement pin (shown clearly in your first photo). Anyway, I was able to drill out and sleeve the casting using a ss tube from McMaster Carr along with reamers to obtain a desired fit. Jim Shea's papers describe the small OD of the pivot pin at .3740 - .3745. That tells me that the holes in the Support should be 3/8". Should be ane easy fix if you wanted to make a repair.

Here is a little more information on the support. I dug through a number of T&T steering column parts lists and found a number of different support part numbers. Very confusing as to what fits what.

This company advertises the support. (They are one of the very few suppliers that list the part.)
http://www.corvettesteering.com/corvette%20parts.htm
It is listed as 69-82 Steering Column Tilt Support NOS
They indicate that their part fits 1969-82. Hope that they are correct.

Doc Rebuild indicates that he has a support that fits 1977-82 #6521522.

There is another part listed on the Doc's website for 1969-76 as #6521520 with no selling price (which is usually bad news.)
