I have just, with some help of my good friend, replaced the inner/outer rear wheel bearings on my '75 coupe. I have it all put together, bled the brakes and went for a spin to check my work. The severe vibration is all but gone. Now what I'm left with is a rub on the inside of the rotor.
Why do I say the inside of the rotor? Well, I took the caliper back off and the rotor and the spindle turns freely....without any rub or binding. When I put the rotor on w/o the caliper and used the lugs to secure it into place and spin the rotor I hear a metal against metal rub.
I used a rubber hammer to "adjust" the shield spacing and that seemed to help it but not completely.
The trailing arm studs don't show any signs that they or any one of them are the culprit.
I have looked for some obvious signs of rubbing and have come up empty.
