starter doesnt like it warm
I know this is a vette forum but i figured you guys could still help me out. I also have a 1979 pontiac firebird transam. It starts right up when its cold, but once the engine compartment gets any warmth to it, something goes awry electrically. The car runs and operates fine but its starting it that becomes the issue. If I go to try and start the start car after it was just ran, it acts like the batteriy has no power. I checked it with a voltmeter and the juice is there, the alternator seems to be working just fine but I'm guessing either the ignition module or the starter is having some sort of electrical issue that gets irritated with the heat from the engine. Any ideas?
