I keep searching and can't find a previous post regarding a TSB on the 82 ECU eprom. I remember reading it...
I'd like to find the updated prom that GM released. The hypertech chip changes the conditions to use a 160 T-stat. I just want the updated chip.
The update was supposed to enhance idle leanness and assist with the torque converter lockup for driveability.
Anyone have the TSB or can point me in the right direction? The simplist thing (maybe not the easiest) would be if I could find the updated chip from the TSB....think GM would still have it? I would doubt it.
I know about this as well. Finding that chip is tantamount to a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow as it is discontinued. Good luck!

If you have the 180 temp chip that is the higher performance chip. I have the Hyper tek 1. My 82 runs great with no mods and drivabilty is 100% better than stock with a kick in the pants for porformance.
With the hypertech 1, do you have to switch out your stock t-stat? I'd have to look up what is the stock t-stat degree rating....is the stock t-stat 180? I'd want to make sure my chip's programming for the t-stat matches the actual t-stat I have.
I found it....the street runner. Of course, they show 2 different part numbers....I'll contact them for the right application. One might be for a California car.
I purchased mine from Corvette Central, page 77, Part#303016 and price is $139.95+shipping. No modification needed except you have to run 91 octane but I have mixed reg. and 91 with no problems. My stock thermo is 190*. I think Cal. is 200*
I sent a copy of the bulletin to Hypertech and here is what they said about the street runner eprom chip vs. the GM updated chip.
We adjust the air/fuel mixture and timing curve which is designed around premium fuel to help increase power. We do delay the TC lockup from the updated GM chip 35 mph up to 42 mph. Our chip was made off the last updated chip that GM had for this vehicle. We just alter the air/fuel mixture and timing curve and TC lockup. Thanks
Summit has them for like $110...i just isntalled mine and so far its a lot better than what I had...
