Default P/s pulley alignment

I have a problem with my p/s pulley being misaligned. It is too far forward (about 1/2 to 3/4 "). My main drive, alternator and water pump pulleys are aligned. What options do I have?

Are you adding on PS ? Don't you have to have a 3rd pulley for a small block ?

If you only have one fan belt then you need to get another belt. There should be a dedicated fan belt which runs only from the crank to the p/s pump.

Default P/s pulley problem

There are three pulleys, main drive, water pump and the p/s pulley. The other two line up almost perfect but the p/s pulley is forward of the other two pulleys by about 1/2''-3/4". The fan belt for the water pump fits well but the I can see the p/s belt will not align. I have removed the a/c from the car so that pulley is gone.

Default Crank shaft pulleys

I am sorry Roger I misunderstood. Only have two pulleys on the crank shaft pulley. It does appear that if I had a third it would align with the p/s pulley. I will try to post a picture...never have done that on the forum but I will try. So you think a 3rd pulley would work? If so could I buy a used one a a salvage yard from any 350 chevy?

Not sure how many different cars it fits and I'm not 100% sure you even need one for your application it was just a suggestion. A pic of what you have should clear it up. Go to help section here on the forum I think there is a thread that will walk you through posting pics ( if I can do it a caveman can do it ).
Here is a link to the pulley,I think you can see the GM part number so you can see what cars it will fit and maybe you can get one from the salvage yard.

Yes, any Chevy crank pulley should work. I had a slight misalignment on a motor I did and I ended up using a damper puller to pull the damper out a little to get the pulleys right.

The center bolt holds the damper in place. You can bottom the damper against the crank or you can leave it out a little ways. It does not mater. But a half inch requires the three pulley on the crank

It appears as though it is exactly one pulley width off so I think you are right....I need a
3 pulley on my crank shaft. My engine block is an 1980 or later so off what cars might I find a used one at a salvage yard?

Did your's have A/C? With air conditioning, there are three crank pulleys, the 3rd one is for power steering.

Default Pulleys

Actually, the car had A/C but has been removed. The crank pully is only a double and according to the Assembly manual that is all it had from the factory. I think the big blocks may have the 3-pulley on the crank but not mine.

The original engine was a 350/270 but I have installed a stroker engine that is a 1980 block.
