After a little more than one year of stop, I have difficulties to start again my 454 of 73 following a fuel arrival which does'nt realize correctly. However my fuel pump is new.
I thus seek to know the longor exact of the “FUEL PUMP PUSH ROD” to know if mine is not worn.
I've never heard of a Fuel pump rod wearing out. Are you saying the carb is not getting fuel after it starts, maybe its the filter sock in the gas tank, it could be clogged.

Thank's with all,
My problem is indeed a problem of fuel arrival ..... fuel pump ????….the carburettor….????? ........?????? but I wanted already to ensure me that the push rod was in conformity
Following difficulties to start my Vette, I was brought on several occasions to dismount and reassemble my fuel pump to test it.
A friend with me which me assistance is astonished that when we dismount the fuel pump whereas the engine functioned a few minutes, there is no engine oil which runs.
He thinks that the part of the pump which is in the engine (the lever and its opening) should be strongly lubricated by the engine oil whereas in my case this part is dry.
Summers you of agreement with him?
So yes which can be the problem of my Vette?
Which can be the reason for which the mechanism of my fuel pump is not lubricated by the engine oil?
To mount the pump I made hold the push rod in high position with much of grease and for this reason the engine oil does not go down to the mechanism of the pump (the engine turned 5 minutes). Can that east be the explanation?
Or my oil pump east can be "tired" and oil it does not circulate correctly in my engine. However my oil pressure is good with the pressure gauge (approximately 50)
The pushrod is lubricated by oil that drips along it's length. It will take some time for the grease to dissolve in the oil and then continue normal lubrication. The grease should lube it well enough until oil takes over.

That is an old mechanics trick done for years using heavy grease to hold the push rod in while you attach the fuel pump....just make sure your installing the right end of the push rod.....
