Something wrong with my '81 Vette head lights... help needed
My lights are up and wont go down, but there seems to be a noise of some sort of leakage of air.My lights turn on and everything. It only does this when i my lights are off. i dont know if it might be hydraulics for the lights or what?
There is a small switch (valve) below the dash on the driver's side. It is a manual overide to rase the lights. Try moving it. If that is not it, it is a matter of hunting down the leak. Start at one end and check hose by hose.

What if i already tried pulling the switch but still leaks air. this only happens when i turn off the switch but my headlights are still up. might it be some sort of fuse or something?
I just went through this.
Check on the backside of the headlight switch itself. Should be 2 vac hoses coming out of the back of the headlight pull switch. Double check that both hoses are secure. If one hose is off the light pods wont retract, but will stay up. Make sure the pin (valve) under the dash (between your legs when your sitting) is all the way in (up). Barring that, I agree, start tracing the "hiss", and you'll find your leak.
