I wired my starter just like it shows in the pics below and when I turn the key I get nothing...
The only difference from the wiring that you see there and my car is that there is an extra wire that on 1 and 4 it is black.. Im not sure what it is.. Tomorrow I will try taking it off and see what it does. However, I dont think it will have much effect.. I am getting anywhere from 11.8-12 volts to all 3 of the terminals (2 and 3 only get power when the key is turned obviously)..
Here is some extra info.. my automatic is out.. I know have a T56 sitting in there.. I removed the stock shifter and have the neutral safety switch sitting to the side in the park position.
#1 is your positive chassis power...it goes to your fuse box.
#2 is your resistor bypass...it goes straight to your coil.
#3 is your starter wire...goes straight to your ignition switch.
#4 is your main power cable...it goes straight to your battery.
I can see your ground strap and it's corroded...get another one. It runs from your motor mount to the frame.
yeah.. that is not my engine.. sorry.. that is a picture i got off here on the forum.. i dont remember exactly the members name.. but i some how got it to start.. so i guess im in the clear!
